How NOT to replace a car windscreen

Posted on October 7, 2012 by Paul Buchanan in Windscreen repair

In my time as a auto glazier, I’ve helped many unfortunate customers with previous windscreen repair/replacement jobs that have been of a substandard quality.

I’ve seen some operators cut corners by:

  • Using substandard resin to repair windscreen cracks..
  • Using poor quality sealant – resulting in leaky windscreens..
  • Using cheap, inferior quality glass when replacing windscreens..
  • Not allowing a repair to set properly before leaving a job, saving themselves time but risking reoccurance of your original problem.

Take a look at the photo on the right. This is a prime example of what I’m talking about. Whoever has carried out this windscreen ‘replacement’ has scratched the paintwork and failed to apply primer to the aperture, which over time has caused major rust issues.
A ‘cheap’ windscreen repair or replacement not only puts your safety at risk when driving, it also means you’ll probably end up with your hand in your pocket when the job needs to be done all over again.

As the owner/operator of Perth Windscreens, I believe the job should be done correctly the first time. I only use the highest quality, reliable materials when repairing or replacing your windshield. Plus, I stand behind the workmanship of every repair/replacement I carry out with a lifetime satisfaction guarantee.

If you have an auto glass problem, give me a call. I’ll provide you with an instant quote over the phone and get you on your way again in no time.
